Today, I had a few of Jack's friends over for a little Valentine's Day party. A minimal effort party. See, I think due to Pinterest and the sheer number of awesome blogs out there, many of us (OK, just me) feel pressure to make things super cute and super perfect all the time. But it doesn't have to be that way! Especially when it comes to kid's stuff because they aren't really impressed by homemade sprinkles anyway, right? And so I give you cupcakes from a mix topped with a can of store icing, Wilton heart sprinkles and Dollar Store lollipops. I did add a little vanilla to the cake mix because I think it makes a mix a little tastier.
Chocolate covered marshmallows from Trader Joe's topped with a large Wilton heart sprinkle. (I melted the chocolate a bit with a lighter so the sprinkle would stick.)
To balance the sugar, I cut strawberries into hearts and arranged them into a heart shape.
And, done! No rolling out dough, no piping cute phrases onto heart cookies, no whipping homemade icing, no coating marshmallows in melted chocolate...No hard work and no stress but still cute and yummy.
I think I'll have to entertain the low-stress way a little more often!
